The UK 2026 Mega goes to Bristol
published 10 Aug 2025
The Severn Mega was a long time in the planning and thanks to an excellent team made it a remarkably successful event for visitors.
Most UK outdoor megas descend on racecourses or showgrounds; but the Severn folk made use of an activity centre which had smaller camping and event fields, surrounded by trees. It was actually a site that I had visited decades ago when I was in the Scouts so it brought back some happy memories.
The weather was generally kind to us, except for the city visit in Bristol in which the heavens opened. Fortunately there was a Wetherspoons nearby at which one could shelter.
On one day, some of us headed across the River Severn and climbed a mountain near Abergaveny to find Wales' oldest cache. A video of this was made to be released in 2026.
So, a great event and now we look forwarded to the East Anglia mega next year.
