A Christmas trip to Sweden
Stockholm - snow and caching
I have Swedish heritage for which I am proud (I eat meatballs, pickled herring and dance to Abba)... so a late weekend break to Stockholm to coincide with the start of Advent was on the cards. A couple of hours flying and we arrived with snow covered fields and houses cover in white candle lights. I am a fan of the 7-light candle bridge you see in many homes, so much prettier than the tatty flashing decorations that often bedeck certain housing developments.
We stayed in the city centre right opposite Central Station and it wasn't long before my son wanted to head out to eat in Gamla Stan (Old Town). Pretty Christmas markets aplenty, unfortunately some of them blocked access to the caches that I was seeking. By around 14:00 it was dark and cold.
There were some interesting caches, including one under a bench on Djurgården which is a beautiful city park with many worthy museums. To get to the cache involved kneeling down and crawling around in the snow. There were a few Adventure Labs to do which were much easier to do including one at the airport for which you could answer all 5 questions from one location.
Perhaps I shall return in the summer and find some of the caches that I missed.
To all my caching friends past, present and future, I wish you all the best for this Christmas 2022.
