Adventure Lab Caches
A lab cache for Newbury is on its way
I wrote in an earlier blog of my frustration with the battery life on a smart phone when doing a lab cache. This was exemplified in Scotland where I'd started the adventure with a full battery but by the time I'd finished the battery was dead, yet I'd not done anything other than run the app. It happened again recently on a trip to London to have a go at the 5-stage Jack The Ripper lab cache. Perhaps it was the poor signal in between buildings, but after 2 hours of walking the phone was dead despite it starting on on a full charge. Maybe I need a new phone!
Anyhow, I got an email recently from Groundspeak to say that I'd been awarded the rights to create an Adventure Lab Cache. The cynic in me would say that I'm providing free labour for a commercial output to create content for their benefit, however, I know how popular good lab caches are with geocaching friends, so a relevant local adventure was definitely on the cards.
Over the last few days the weather has been cold but sunny, so I took advantage of this and made progress collecting information, taking photographs and putting a short video together. You can watch the video here on YouTube.
I hope that the short five stages around Newbury work for you. At least there's a good number of pubs, cafes and restaurants in Newbury.
