Covid really bites
A fortnight in hospital with Covid-19
So you spend all of the year avoiding crowds, self-isolating, keeping safe.... and then you pick up Coronavirus from a relative. That's what happened to me late November. After a positive test I really felt unwell, unable to get up, yet alone do any geocaching. I made a call to the emergency services and 10 minutes later an ambulance had arrived.
Covid-19 had affected my oxygen levels and had really weakened me; I lost 8kg in a week and spent two weeks in hospital including eight days in an Intensive Care Unit which was a scary experience. The nurses were incredible and I can't thank them enough for their absolute dedication to their job and the personal care they gave.
After fourteen days I was finally able to breath without assistance and my blood oxygen saturation was back where it should be. I was able to be released and thankfully I have been feeling better everyday at home. I have even started working again though my body aches and it's a struggle to walk too far, but a few targeted geocaching finds will soon help me recover.
