Explaining Geekdom

What geekdom means.

I have always been a technical person dabbling with a range of hobbies and interests to many 'muggles' would seem a bit odd; activities include computer programming in a large range of languages and technologies, amateur radio, astronomy and cosmology, electronic prototyping, building computers, mathematics, and of course geocaching. My best friend Kev is much the same and admits that "We're Geeks".

I define "Geekdom" as an interest in technical things beyond which the average member of the public would be lost. Go down to the pub (always a good idea) and the average white male will be talking about "the kicking-ball game" or "getting some more tats" or "going off to i-beefa", whereas I'd go to the pub and discuss entanglement theory or recall PI to 50 digits.

In honour of all those like-minded souls, male and female, I have created a series of mystery caches entitled "Exercises in Geekdom". No.1 to No.5 were published a while back and I recently published a new set No.6 to No.10. I plan to release some more this year with No.11 to No.15 scheduled (pronounced shed-yuled, not sked-yuled) around Easter time and hope to get No.16 to No.20 over the summer.
