More Hospital - Less Caching
Another excuse not to cache
As I write, it's nearly Easter 2021, a year since I created the COVID BITES video on youtube ... some of you may know that I was diagnosed with a blood cancer a couple of years ago, CLL to give it its abbrev. Treatment was due to start before Christmas but it didn't happen due to me being covidised. With a weakened immune system, going out in winter months was something I avoided except for the occasional break where I felt I could get out and avoid the crowds.
Treatment is about to start.. it's a six months of hospital visits to a cancer day unit, frequent blood tests, CT scans, haemotology clinics and a further six months of a new but expensive pill. Thank you NHS. In hospital I expect to receive intravenous chemotherapy, attached to a bag feeding a cytotoxic fluid into my arm via a cannula. For reference, the chemo is called Obinutuzumab. It's brown and is light sensitive , so it comes in a dark bag. It's pumped into me preceded by a cocktail of Chlorphenamine (which will make me drowsy) and Steroids (which will keep me up all night, literally!). Between treatments and on-going after August (assuming I make it that far) I'll also be taking Venetoclax, £200 of tables a day....
I'll let you know how it goes in a future blog.
